The Three Models Explained
Countryman S ALL4 — The Everyday Choice
This is the core Countryman. It runs a 241-horsepower turbocharged engine with MINI Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. It handles well, fits most budgets, and comes loaded even at the base level. For 2027, it starts at $34,900 in Oxford Edition trim and runs up to $42,300 in Iconic.
Countryman SE ALL4 — The All-Electric Version
The SE runs on electricity. No gas, no trips to the pump. It starts at $45,200 in Signature Plus trim and comes with Active Cruise Control Stop & Go standard. New for 2027: a Seal & Drive Tire Kit replaces the old mobility kit. It attaches magnetically to your wheel and uses air and sealant to temporarily seal a puncture so you can drive to a service center.
JCW Countryman ALL4 — The Performance Model
JCW stands for John Cooper Works, MINI's in-house performance division. It's built for people who want the Countryman to feel like a sport car. It starts at $46,900. You get more power, sport-tuned suspension, unique JCW exterior details, and four visible exhaust pipes.
The Oxford Edition: MINI's Value Play
The Oxford Edition is back for 2027. It's built on the Countryman S ALL4 and priced at $34,900 — $4,000 less than the Signature Plus. But you'll still get features that typically cost extra.
These include:
- Your choice of Chili Red II, Nanuq White Metallic, or Blazing Blue Metallic exterior paint (a $650 value)
- Black roof and mirror caps for a two-tone look
- 18" Asteroid Spoke wheels in gloss black with all-season tires
- Active Driving Assistant with advanced safety features
- Sport seats in Vescin/Cloth Grey/Blue combination
- Anthracite headliner
- Privacy glass (a $500 value)
There's also an optional $720 accessory package through MINI's Port Installation Program. It adds a Heritage Bonnet graphic, Heritage mirror caps with a Union Jack design, and a Wing Black Jack license plate frame with valve stem caps. The $250 Universal Garage Door Opener isn't available on the Oxford Edition. That's a Signature Plus and Iconic feature.
The Oxford Edition's rear cabin. Comfortable for everyday trips, with the Grey/Blue Vescin cloth seating that normally costs extra on other trims.
Rear seats folded flat: up to 56.2 cubic feet of cargo space. More room than a Mercedes-Benz GLA or Audi Q3, at a fraction of the price.
Signature Plus vs. Iconic: What's the Difference?
On the S ALL4, SE ALL4, and JCW, you pick between two trim levels: Signature Plus or Iconic. Iconic adds $3,400 on the S ALL4 and SE, and $2,500 on the JCW.
| Feature | Signature Plus | Iconic |

| Panoramic Moonroof | Yes | Yes |
| MINI Navigation | Yes | Yes |
| MINI Head-Up Display | Yes | Yes |
| Heated Front Seats & Steering Wheel | Yes | Yes |
| Wireless Device Charging | Yes | Yes |
| Remote Engine Start | Yes | Yes |

| Universal Garage Door Opener (optional, $250) | Yes | Yes |
| Power Front Seats | — | Yes |

Iconic makes the most sense if you want the Harman Kardon audio or plan to use parking assist regularly. Signature Plus covers everything a daily driver needs without paying for things you might never use.
The Iconic trim's front seat in Vescin upholstery. It's the kind of interior that makes the Countryman hard to cross-shop against something ordinary.
The Signature Plus driver's view. The 9.4" circular OLED display and Toggle Bar come standard on every non-Oxford Countryman.
Which Countryman Fits Your Life?
What Owners Are Saying
This generation Countryman has been on the road since 2025. Here's what owners and long-term testers actually found after living with it.
The interior is genuinely different. Owners consistently call it a standout. The circular OLED display, the Vescin upholstery, and the ambient lighting get praise across Cars.com reviews and owner forums. If you've been shopping nothing but black plastic interiors, stepping into a Countryman feels like a different class of car.

Real-world fuel economy beats the estimate. EPA says 27 mpg combined on the S ALL4. Multiple owners report 33–36 mpg on the highway in regular use. One Cars.com reviewer hit that figure at normal highway speeds without babying it.

The electronics take getting used to. This is the most common complaint across every forum and review. Nearly everything lives in the touchscreen: climate, driving modes, settings. Several of those reset every time you start the car. Auto start/stop re-enables itself on every drive unless you go in and turn it off. Software updates have helped, but if you're coming from a car with physical buttons, expect a learning curve.

It's a great city and commuter car — but think twice before a road trip. Edmunds drove a Countryman S from Los Angeles to San Francisco and found the ride firm, road noise significant at highway speeds, and the seats uncomfortable after a few hours. For daily commutes and city driving, owners love it. On longer hauls, it's a different story.

The dual-clutch transmission can hesitate at low speeds. Several owners noticed a lag when pulling into traffic from a stop, particularly when merging or crossing a busy intersection. It's a known quirk of dual-clutch automatics. It doesn't show up on the highway, but it's worth knowing before you test drive.

It drives like a MINI. Bigger than any Countryman before it, but longtime owners say the go-kart feel is still there. Quick steering, agile through corners, and more fun than you'd expect from a compact SUV. That part hasn't been lost in the growth.

These experiences are from 2025 Countryman owners. The 2025 and 2027 share the same generation and platform. The 2027 adds software improvements and the Universal Garage Door Opener, a feature owners specifically flagged as missing on earlier builds.
What's New for 2027
- Oxford Edition returns. MINI's value-focused special edition is back as the entry point for the Countryman lineup.
- Favoured Style package adds more value. On the S ALL4, this package now includes a trailer hitch and space-saver spare (a $1,000 value) for just $100 more. The SE ALL4 gets the trailer hitch only (a $700 value) for the same $100 increase. You can remove the hitch at no charge using option ZNH.
- Universal Garage Door Opener available as a $250 add-on. Works through the interior mirror button. Available on Signature Plus and Iconic trims only, not the Oxford Edition.
- SE ALL4 gets the Seal & Drive Tire Kit standard. Replaces the older single-use mobility kit. This new system can repair minor punctures while you drive slowly to a service center.
- Pricing holds. Base prices are unchanged across all models.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which 2027 MINI Countryman trim is the best value?
The Oxford Edition at $34,900 is the best dollar-for-dollar buy. It includes privacy glass and sport seats that'd normally cost extra. If you want full flexibility on packages and options, the Signature Plus at $38,900 is the next step up.
Is the Countryman SE ALL4 worth the extra money over the S ALL4?
It depends on your situation. The SE starts at $10,300 more than the Oxford Edition and $6,300 more than the S ALL4 Signature Plus. If you charge at home or work and stick to a predictable daily route, the fuel savings can justify it over time. If your driving is less predictable or you take long road trips, the S ALL4 is the easier call.
What is the difference between Signature Plus and Iconic trim?
Signature Plus is standard on all non-Oxford models. It covers the essentials: heated seats, navigation, moonroof, head-up display, and wireless charging. Iconic adds power front seats, Harman Kardon audio, augmented reality navigation, upgraded driver assistance, and privacy glass. The jump costs $3,400 on the S ALL4 and SE, and $2,500 on the JCW.
Does the 2027 Oxford Edition come in the JCW or SE model?
No. The Oxford Edition is only available on the S ALL4, priced below the standard Signature Plus trim.
Can I add a trailer hitch to the 2027 Countryman?
Yes. The S ALL4's Favoured Style package now includes a trailer hitch and space-saver spare, a $1,000 value, for just $100 more. The SE ALL4 gets the trailer hitch only through the same package. Don't want it? Remove it at no cost with option code ZNH.
What is the towing capacity of the 2027 MINI Countryman?
It depends on the model. The S ALL4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs with the factory-installed trailer hitch, included in the Favoured Style Package. The SE ALL4 is rated up to 2,645 lbs with the same hitch. Neither comes with a hitch standard — you'll need the Favoured Style Package to add it. If towing is a priority and you're choosing between the S and SE, that 855-lb gap is worth factoring in. A towing rating for the JCW wasn't available on MINI USA's published specs pages at time of writing.
What is the Seal & Drive Tire Kit on the SE ALL4?
It's a new standard item on the 2027 SE ALL4, replacing the old mobility kit. The device attaches magnetically to your wheel and uses air and sealant to temporarily seal a puncture while you drive slowly to a service center. It's not a permanent fix, just enough to get you there safely.
What packages are available on the Oxford Edition?
The Oxford Edition can't be configured with Signature Plus or Iconic packages. It has its own fixed feature set. The only add-on available is the $720 Port Installation accessory package: a Heritage Bonnet graphic, Heritage mirror caps with Union Jack design, and a Black Jack license plate frame with valve stem caps. The $250 Universal Garage Door Opener isn't available on this model.
